Description
Subject: Physical Education 11- Elective course for students grades 10-12 that focuses on physical activity and the basics of the human body
Unit: Exercise Science- is a subfield of kinesiology that solely focuses on how
movement impacts the physical fitness and health of the human body.
Outcome: Demonstrate and Understand Basic Human Anatomy. We are achieving this outcome by involving them in a physically active format while engaging them in basic human anatomy terms.
Description of How To Facilitate The Activity
To facilitate this activity, begin with having students circle up to listen to the instructions. Depending on the class, have your students choose a partner, or assign partners if necessary.
Print off the 10 prompts, and disperse these around the classroom or outdoor area of use.
Give each student a piece of paper and a pen or pencil for them to record their answer.
Start an 8 minute timer, and allow your students to begin the scavenger hunt. They will be responsible to make an effort to find and solve all 10 prompts before the timer ends.
For groups who finish early, have them answer the bonus question, and come up with an exercise which would use the muscle. If they complete this, have them review their answers, and find where this muscle/bone is on their body.
When 8 minutes have elapsed, bring students back into the circle to review the answers as a group. Do so by having your students raise their hands if they know the answer. Have groups of students mark their individual answers so they can see how they did on the activity, but do not collect or ask for scores.
