Explanation

Teacher creates an outdoor obstacle course, using the playground equipment and natural features available in the schoolyard.

Colour teams line up at the start. One student at a time, each team completes the obstacle course. Once the student has completed the course, they must answer a multiplication equation such as (4xA =12) or a division equation such as (72/D = 9).

Variation/progression

Obstacle courses can be incorporated into the review of many different math / language arts review classes.

Students enjoy helping to design obstacle courses.
