  • Cards with character traits which apply to novel characters

Explanation

Students are divided into groups of about 4 students.

Students receive a bag of adjectives that apply to novel characters. Ensure that there are several options that apply to each character.

Adjective bags are given to each group to spread around and give students time to ensure that they know the meaning of all words.

A character name is called out by the teacher and all students within the group must discuss which adjective they want to use and why.

Once they have settled on an adjective, the entire group runs to the opposite side of the area to show that they are ready to discuss their selection.

When all groups have assembled at the opposite side, each group has a turn presenting their adjective and explanation.

Once all groups have spoken, students run back to the starting place and return their adjective to the pile. A new character is then called out and the process is repeated.
