Explanation
Conversation circle is also called "Speed date". The students stand in two circles (inner and outer circle) facing each other. The teacher gives the students a task to explain a concept for example. Start by having everyone in the inner circle explain the concept to their interlocutor. At the sign from the teacher (for example after one minute) those in the outer circle go to the right, so that everyone gets a new conversation partner. Then the students in the outer circle can explain the same concept or a new one.
Variation/progression
You can organize this conversation in other ways, such as two rows or that the students walk unsystematically around the room / space and find a new partner between each task. In addition to explaining other concepts, students can interview or discuss different statements / topics.
Challenge students to be good listeners, by retelling what they hear from the conversation partner to the next partner they get in the circle. They are extra challenged if they have to present something they do not necessarily agree with (for example political opinions). Then they must respect the opinions of others, which can be a good exercise in social competence goals.
